Chris Robinson shares The Black Crowes’ excitement over their first Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination. See what he had to say and who else made the 2025 nominee list.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 nominees, and among them is The Black Crowes, marking their first nomination. Frontman Chris Robinson expressed the band's excitement, stating, "We're just very excited. I don't think we ever really would have thought about it, so for it to be in front of us, it's incredible. We're thrilled."
The Black Crowes, formed in 1984 by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, gained prominence with their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, which featured hits like "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels." Their blend of Southern rock and blues has left a lasting impact on the rock music scene.
The 2025 nominee list includes 14 performers, with eight first-time nominees such as Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, OutKast, Phish, and The Black Crowes. Other notable nominees are Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper, Oasis, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, and Joy Division/New Order.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for this fall in Los Angeles, with inductees to be revealed in late April. Voting involves over 1,200 artists, historians, and industry experts who assess impact, career scope, innovation, and excellence.
Reflecting on the nomination, Chris Robinson added, "All sarcasm aside, it's amazing to be thought of. It's amazing to be included. We love music, and we understand the real magical, alchemic process in it, and that we've managed to still be here this many years later and still be making records... Just to be mentioned [alongside] some of the names of the greatest artists, it's fantastic."
Fans and industry peers alike celebrate The Black Crowes' nomination, recognizing their significant contributions to rock music over the past decades.
